Pride

I am not a socialist. I am not a Republican. I am not a Communist. I am not a Democrat. I am not a member of the Green party. I have my own thoughts and ideals. I am a single mother with two beautiful girls. I have an amazing boyfriend that I don't deserve. I have been eligible for state assistance, but have chosen to not participate. I have too much pride. If I have needed extra money, I have gotten a second job. In the beginning with my first child, I will admit, I had WIC. I was 20 years old and I was not really sure what I was doing. This probably lasted for two months.
I bought a house by myself. I didn't graduate from college. I fell short. I have many faults and mistakes that I am not proud of. But, I am proud to make my own way. I don't expect handouts. If I have to, I will work at MacDonald's.
I do not rely on the government and I am proud of that. I take care of my own. I do not expect others to feel pride the way I do. But what happened to our country? We were founded by proud people. People that wanted to stand alone. People that didn't want their government to take care of them. It would have been easier to run back to the queen.
I am not an advocate for the Right Wing or the Left Wing. I am in the middle if that can be labeled at all. I believe that we should have a small government that I control. I do not want a government that tries to control me. However, I want equal rights for all. So, what would you label me as?
I think that our previous President was right to be hard on terrorism. I don't think a lot of people would disagree with me on that when speaking about 9/11. To even think about the images that were being shown brings tears to my eyes. However, I didn't agree with him about making a larger government. I think it is great that earlier today two journalists were able to come home due to our current President's negotiating skills. I am a little nervous to know at what cost. I have not been happy with the things that I have been reading, seeing, hearing on various news sites, TV programs, articles about this current health care legislation. I am scared that there are people supposed to be representing us saying they don't have time to read the legislation. I will admit, I am very naive in the ways of government. this is really the first election that I have taken any interest in. Of course I have voted since I was 18, but this is the first time that I ever listened to anyone.
I voted for McCain. I didn't like it. I didn't necessarily support him. But I was terrified of the alternative. I am still scared.
I am not a socialist. I am not a Republican. I am not a Communist. I am not a Democrat. I am not a member of the Green party. I have my own thoughts and ideals.
I don't think that a government run health care plan will fix anything. I think it will create more unnecessary taxes that we really can't afford. Maybe instead of changing the regulations of our private healthcare, change and fix Medicare and Medicaid. Make it include people who have pre-existing conditions. People have SR-22 insurance for their vehicles. The medical sector is a for-profit business. If people need medical attention currently, they can get it. Yes, they will get a bill. But, I still have to pay for my insurance whether I use it or not. Most of the time, I don't use it. I am an insurance company's dream come true: Healthy family that pays for insurance, but never uses it. Another way needs to be found. To try to push through a bill on fear-mongering is not acceptable. Agree with it all or don't push it through.
I am for LEGAL immigration. My father and his parents and two brothers immigrated here legally from Germany. They had pride. They worked hard. They made sacrifices.
I am all for legal immigration. You want to come in? Do it the right way.
I don't want to pay for you or your health care. I have to worry about my own family.
That is what we would be doing in the current health care legislation. I could really care less if the President was born in the United States or not. That has no bearing on whether or not he loves his country. My father just became a US Citizen at the age of 62. He served in the army here. He loves and would have died for this country.
I am not a socialist. I am not a Republican. I am not a Communist. I am not a Democrat. I am not a member of the Green party. I have my own thoughts and ideals.
I could go on. At this point, I will let you swallow what I have written. You can agree, tear apart or ignore what I have spewed. Let me know your thoughts.
I will not accept handouts even though I qualify. I will not be someone's puppet or poster child even though I qualify.
I will.
